Student Accessibility Services

Chemeketa Community College is committed to providing accessible educational opportunities for all students and does so in accordance with college policy and in compliance with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disability Act as Amended (2008). The Students with Disabilities statement is a required component of all syllabi.

Student accommodations are determined through the Student Accessibility Services (SAS) department on a case-by-case basis. Faculty members will receive a Letter of accommodation via email from the SAS office for all students approved for disability related accommodations. The faculty member has a responsibility to implement the accommodations for which the student is eligible. The faculty member should not ask the student for information about their disability, as this information has already been provided to Student Accessibility Services. Common accommodations include alternative or extended testing and flexibility for deadlines, but each student’s accommodations is unique to their specific need and diagnosis. If a faculty member has a question or concern about the accommodation, they should contact SAS or their dean at the earliest opportunity. The faculty member should provide the accommodation as outlined until questions or concerns are resolved.

While some students have received specific accommodations, all students may benefit from materials and teaching strategies that incorporate elements of universal design. Faculty should consider broad-based physical and learning accommodation strategies for face-to-face, hybrid and online students.

Academic Integrity at Chemeketa

At Chemeketa, academic integrity is a shared endeavor characterized by truth, personal responsibility and high academic standards. To promote and sustain academic integrity standards at Chemeketa, we have developed a referral process founded on developmental principles. The video here provides specific guidance to you as an instructor to minimize incidences of academic dishonesty as well as explain the referral process if and when it occurs.

We also encourage you to view the Academic Honesty policy for Chemeketa Community College.
