This is my third year at Chemeketa, teaching in the Life Sciences program. I mainly teach the Major's biology series, as well as the prerequisite biology class for students entering into Anatomy and Physiology. You've stumbled upon my portfolio of artifacts for the Excellence in Teaching Certificate at Chemeketa, and you likely didn't get here by accident. So, enjoy!
Hiking on the coast
I really, really love my job. But, I'm much more than an educator. I'm an avid hiker and camper, and have been thoroughly enjoying the access to nature Salem provides. I'm also passionate about making an impact in my community. I serve as the outreach chair for my neighborhood association (shout out to Highland!) where I plan events like litter clean ups, holiday potlucks, among other things. My partner and I also host Salem Soup Squad on Saturdays at Marion Square Park, where we provide the logistical support for members of the community to help feed our unhoused neighbors.Â
In addition to food, we also offer harm reduction products at Salem Soup Squad
