Cheltenham High School features two orchestras under the direction of Mr. Matthew Hoy:

Concert String Orchestra - An intermediate string ensemble open to string students in grades 9-12. This class is geared to the developing high school player and the improvement of tone quality, intonation, rhythm and instrument technique. Students have the option to take this course as a Major or a Minor. 

Chamber Orchestra - An advanced ensemble that performs collegiate and professional string orchestra repertoire and chamber music. Students must complete an audition with Mr. Hoy and demonstrate advanced instrumental technique, including performing multi-octave scales up to 4 flats and 4 sharps.

Important Performance Dates 

• Wednesday, December 11, 7:00 - Winter Instrumental Concert

• Saturday, December 14 - District 11 Auditions (Upper Dublin High School)

• Wednesday, March 12,  7:00 - CHS Chamber Music Concert

• Thursday, May 15, 7:00 - Spring Orchestra Festival (at CBK)
