What's Happening?
In Module 3, students use various strategies to multiply and divide with fractions. They multiply fractions by whole numbers and by fractions, divide whole numbers by unit fractions and unit fractions by whole numbers, and convert customary measurements.

In module 4, students relate their understanding of whole numbers and fractions to decimals. Decimal concepts include: describing place value relationships, rounding, comparing, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and converting measurements.
In this unit, students will read a variety of texts and compare and contrast characters, setting, and events between texts. Students will analyze how figurative language and visual representations enhance or contribute to the text.
Currently, we are reading Cinderella stories from all around the world. After our Cinderella unit, we will dive into Pompeii!
In this unit, students will write for a variety of purposes. Students will write opinion/argumentative essays in which they introduce and develop a topic using logical reasons to support their opinions. Students will also write an explanatory/informational essay in which they introduce and develop a topic using concrete facts and details.
Students will continue to build their stamina for writing while practicing writing short opinion essays in a short time.

In this unit, students explore the Earth, Sun, Moon, and stars using observations of shadows and changing patterns in the sky. Students also explore the planets of our Solar System and begin to consider what might lie beyond.
In this unit, students will investigate the course consequences of the Age of Exploration in the Americas. They will learn about the European explorers who came to the Americas, why they came, what they did, and what the consequences of their expeditions were.

Wonder Week!
Students researched a topic of their choosing for about a week. After researching, students created a slide show and presented their topic to the class. Ask you child what interesting facts they learned! 😃
