I am married and have 3 amazing children. I enjoy teaching and coaching Track/Cross-Country and Soccer. When I am not working I love to travel. I believe one of the most important contributions we make as educators is to become involved in our school and its community.
Philosophy:
As an educator and Library Media Specialist, my philosophy centers around empowering students to effectively use information, embrace critical thinking, and become lifelong learners.
As a Library Media Specialist I believe in equipping students with the necessary skills to navigate and evaluate the vast amount of information available to them. I endeavor to curate diverse and culturally relevant resources that reflect the backgrounds and experiences of the students and the stakeholders the library serves. I strive to teach my students how to access information, critically assess information, and make informed decisions. I believe in fostering a love for reading and that through books/literature students can learn an appreciation for differing perspectives - by promoting this mindset, they will be empowered to become discerning consumers and creators of knowledge. I strive to engage with students’ interests and connect them with resources that resonate with their passions. In our rapidly advancing - technology driven society I embrace the responsible and ethical use of technology and model its use for my students. I believe in the positive synergistic effects of collaboration and inquiry based learning. I work with my colleagues, students and all stakeholders to support critical thinking, creativity, and achievement. I believe in creating a welcoming and inclusive library space where students can explore new ideas, and engage in respectful dialogue.
Through the philosophy outlined above, I aim to prepare students for lifelong learning, critical thinking, and success in the digital age.
"I LOVE Teaching and Coaching!!! More than anything, I enjoy helping kids achieve more than even they thought was possible. "
