Learning Links

What is Learning Links?

Learning Links is Christchurch East School’s positive approach to homework from Year 0 - 8.

Learning Links for each week will be set up on a Monday and is to be returned to school daily. On Friday children will bring home their poetry books to read over the weekend. We will leave all reading books in children’s book bags over the weekend, so you can revisit their books and we will collect them on Monday.

Reading

  • A home reader will be sent home Monday - Friday

  • A poetry book with a new poem will come on Friday (return Monday)

  • Most books that come home will have been read with the teacher and your child will be able to read them with varying levels of independence

  • We ask that you support them as they learn to read – remember you are a cheerleader for their efforts and this should be a positive sharing experience

  • Sight words and letter cards are also coming home for the children to practice with. Instant recognition of sight words will help make reading easier

  • Learning the sounds that the letter makes will enable students to sound out words

Mathletics @ Home

  • An instruction letter will come home soon with a web address and username and password for your child.

  • The extra practice at home can make all the difference to your child's progress.

  • Encourage them to achieve a weekly target of 1000 points to earn a certificate bronze, silver or gold.
