All students are worthwhile and deserve to be heard, acknowledged, and seen
Creating learning environments where Black and Brown student are affirmed will benefit all students
Listening to a student and letting them know you understand is the most important gift an educator/counselors can provide
All students have innate abilities and potentials that become evident when we pay attention
Educators/Counselors can create programs that help ensure the mental, social, and emotional well-being of students
Students are most successful at school when their basic needs are met and they are mentally, socially, and emotionally well
Family involvement and engagement are necessary to students reaching their full potential and educators/counselors have a role in encouraging that involvement
Students need opportunities to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences with someone they trust and feel safe around
Is comprehensive, evidence-based, data-driven, and responsive to students’ needs
Recognizes students' cultures and understands that the SEL program should promote an equitable context where all students, especially Black students are affirmed
Is aligned with the school and district’s mission, vision, and overall goals
Addresses students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs
Is driven by data and student outcomes that are assessed by the Student Services Support Staff
