McDougle Elementary

School Improvement Team

The School Improvement Team (SIT) is a state-mandated organization composed of elected McDougle staff and parents. The main roles of the SIT are to develop a school improvement plan to strengthen student performance and to serve as an advisory group to McDougle’s leadership by providing input on issues such as school programs, philosophy, climate, and safety.

SIT meetings are open to the MES community, with time for public comment at the beginning of each meeting. We meet virtually the second Monday of each month from 5 - 6:00PM. Community comments are limited to 3 minutes per person at the beginning of each meeting. More than one person can comment on the same issue. MES community members are also welcome to contact any member of the SIT with questions, comments, or concerns.

In the spring of each school year the PTA sends an announcement requesting nominations and then distributes a ballot to all MES families. SIT parent representatives are elected for a two-year term. We particularly welcome parents from racially and economically diverse backgrounds to run for the SIT in order to ensure that our SIT reflects the diverse population of our wonderful school. If you are interested in running, please email the PTA President.
