What we are doing the week of September 11, 2017:

Math - We are beginning to learn how to count from 1-10, label our work, and connect items/pictures to the amount shown. Students are also learning how to explain their thinking verbally and by drawing pictures to show their thinking. This is our first week using math journals!

Reading - We are beginning to practice writing our names correctly, students will begin writing their name using an upper case letter followed by a lowercase letter. Such as, "Ryan" instead of "RYAN". We are also beginning Daily 5, which encompasses the students beginning to read quietly for short and extended amounts of time, practicing writing their name by circulating through center stations, and showing their thinking through drawing pictures and writing in their reading journals to show their comprehension of text. They are learning about the setting, main characters, expression, the parts of the book, and learning how to use the pictures to understand the story better.

Science - We are still waiting for our Wood and Paper science kits! :)

Social Studies - We will begin learning about different types of families very soon and comparing and contrasting differences between people, but also making comparisons to how we are all the same as well.
