The primary purpose of the choral program at Culbreth Middle School is to provide students with an educational experience in music. Students will be instructed and trained in the following areas:
Singing Techniques - To sing with proper breath support, tone quality, diction.
Music Theory - To be able to read music (note identification and rhythm patterns).
Sight Singing - To sing rhythm patterns and identify intervals.
Music Performances -Winter and Spring Concerts. Create music videos with WeVideo.
CONCERTS (Mandatory) - ALL chorus students are required to sing at all scheduled performance events. Performances are an essential element in the curriculum and grading procedures.
NO CELL PHONES! Cell phones are required to be in the student's locker during the school day!
First Offense: Verbal warning.
Second Offense: The phone will be sent to the front office and you will be required to call your parent to pick up your phone at the end of the day.
Third Offense: The phone is sent to the front office and the parent or guardian will be notified and your behavior will be documented in the Educator's Handbook.
All students should report to class on time!!! If a student is late to class without a pass:
First Offense: Verbal warning.
Second Offense: Parent or guardian notified via email or phone.
Third Offense: Lunch detention, parent phone call and referral.
All students should report to class with their planner! Planners will be used for assignments and restroom pass.
All students will pick up their music folders and sit in their assigned seat.
All students should have a "safe space" to sing recorded assignments.
