Hello, my name is Austyn Slack! I am a student at Chapel Hill High, and I am currently taking 3D modeling and animation. I am the oldest with three younger brothers, a dog, and a family who is very into sports. I personally play travel softball, wrestle, and love to make art in my free time.
I decided to pursue 3D modeling, because I have always loved animated films, and I have always wanted to see the behind the scenes of how the films are made. It seemed very cool to get to see the process of creating animation and all the steps you have to take to reach the product.
My philosophy is to always love whatever you are creating, if you are not passionate about it you should either chose something you are more passionate about or put your own spin on it. I think these lets you create better work if you are actually enjoying what you are doing and having fun while creating it. Having passion for something also helps you put your own feelings into the design
If I get any ideas I do research and see if it is something I would like and be able to create. If I think it is a good idea i start to just draw very rough drafts to see if I like how it would turn out, if I do then I will do another sketch to clean it and add more details. Then I would begin on the creation process testing out different ideas I had and seeing which one looks, and works the best.
I have gotten a lot of inspiration from Disney and Pixar films. Disney films always have such beautiful animations and such great deigns for their Princesses. I love Pixar's animation style because they always do a great job making the animations show so much emotion. I also get inspiration from a YouTube Art creator named Moriah Elizabeth who makes her own characters.
One long term goal I have is to become a animator or character artist, for Disney or Pixar. I have always loved the animation style and think that the films are always so well made! It is definitely a big goal but it would be a dream to be a part of the creation process of making one.
