Purpose of the Award

The Advancing Advocacy Award serves as a way for the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Family Justice Center to highlight an organization that has truly gone above and beyond in serving vulnerable populations in our community who have experienced domestic violence.

The Advancing Advocacy Award was born out of the appreciation we have for our partners and community allies who make an impact on those we serve together. The Family Justice Center focuses on serving individuals and families who experience domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, elder abuse, and child abuse. Our clients often identify needs that are best served by disciplines within mental health services, healthcare, law enforcement, judicial/ legal services, housing/ shelter services, and so many more. It's this collaborative spirit that supports safety and fosters hope in individuals and families who experience the trauma of interpersonal violence.

We believe that when you are called to serve your community, you should not only strive to meet their needs, but also exceed their expectations. In order to create change within systems, organizations who break down silos through coordination and collaboration forge generational impact. They recognize the need to change systems and synergistically gather others to drive innovation. We want to acknowledge the changemakers, the movers and shakers, those who drive change, and those who create meaningful impacts.
