Showcase

Pictured Below is our latest successful trading team!! In January of 2023, we offered all the 8th graders at GMH a chance to play the stock market game as a part of our CORE ELA enrichment.  Mrs. Ellen Crayton, 8th grade ELA and Mrs. Tracy Miller, AIG  collaborated to teach this weekly exploration into the markeet economy. This team of young men really got into making money and ended with a great profit in a rocky time! Led by Asher Savage with Colton Adams, Nick Armstrong, Hayden Ellis and Rowan Fisher filling out the team. These gentlemen ranked among the  top 10 schools in the nation. We were ranked as the NUMBER ONE MIDDLE SCHOOL . There were 7 high schools and 3 middle school's invited to D.C. for  an incredible opportunity to meet with their Senator or Representative and visit sifma, morgan stanley, the US Capitol, view the monuments and soak up all the  sites of the heart of the nation our capitol. We actually had a sit down with our very own Senator  Thom Tillis and  were allowed to sit in the gallery of the senate in session. This behind the scenes, insider experience was a  once in a lifetime opportunity and such an honor  for our teachers and our school.  We were blessed with an outstanding volunteer Dad, Mr. James Ellis.  We are all so appreciative of the support of our administration and school system for investing in schoolwide enrichment at our school.

In 2021, We had an exceptional team participate in the Capitol Hill Challenge. They placed 4th in the NATION!! 1ST IN THE STATE & REGION! Best Middle School team in the competition overall. Hayes Burleson, A.J. (Aaron) Rhone, Jaylen Scurlock, Isaiah Blair, Omar Gallegos- Jaime were stellar throughout the game working as a team and representing Horton well! We are so proud of this team! Unfortunately, due to COVID 19 precautions they were not able to travel to D.C. but they received significant prizes from the organizers! Way to Go Widcats! ( shown below)
