Welcome to Mrs. DeSantis' Counseling Site!

What does your school counselor do?

As your school counselor, I work hard to help all students socially, emotionally, and academically. I offer individual and group counseling services where we can work on skills including but not limited to: developing and practicing healthy coping skills, social skills, positive self-esteem and body image, making and keeping friends, managing worries, developing resilience, and regulating emotions. I enjoy teaching counseling lessons to each class every month and helping organize community projects to help those in need with our lovely Kindness Committee. I am also our school's Intervention & Referral Services Coordinator and Anti-Bullying Specialist.

About Mrs. DeSantis

I am so excited to be your school counselor at Washington Avenue School. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I was a special education teacher for nine years. I earned my MA in School Counseling from Montclair State University in 2018 and my BA in Elementary and Special Education from DeSales University in 2011.

Outside of school, I love to spend time with my husband, two children, Luca and Ella, and mini Labradoodle, Penny. I also love to exercise, travel to the New Jersey shore, and bake delicious treats.

With my combined love of education, mental health, and children, my passion is helping all of our students and families at Washington Avenue School. Please reach out via phone or email with any questions or concerns about your child.
