Post Graduate Certificate Course in Applied Research
The Post Graduate Certificate Programme on Applied Research is a specialized academic programme (Research Specific) intended for individuals who want to advance their knowledge and research skills in physics. The curriculum is framed largely focusing on the experimental and computational aspects with supportive theoretical requisite. Those research oriented students of UG/PG are eligible to apply.
Objective:
To inculcate research skills necessary to conduct independent research, including research design, exposure to analytical methods, data collection and analysis, and drawing meaningful conclusions that that could result in publications in reputable journals.
Outcome: The candidate after the completion of the course would be
· Trained to take up research challenges
· Able to operate various research level Instruments and would be able to do the required analysis
· Able to perform Hands-on experience on synthesis, characterization of nanomaterials and application of nanomaterials
· Trained to look at the research problem with an interdisciplinary approach
· Develop confidence to grab opportunities in industries focused on innovation, such as the development of new materials, sensors, or devices.
· Able to learn the presentation techniques and able to get wider Exposure before the
experienced researchers (National/International) while attending conferences and Symposia
· Able to get the authorship of Research Publication (WOS, Scopus Indexed Journals)
· Enable to pursue for higher education leading to PhD.
Course Details:
Part-1: 15 Credits (3 Months)
Module No1. Research Methodology and Data Analysis
· Part A: Define the Research Problem, Literature Review, Formulate Hypotheses or Research Questions, Select the Research Design, Data Collection Methods, Ethical Considerations, paper/report writing
· Part B: Data analysis, visualization, and numerical computations - Quantitative and qualitative using Mat-Lab, Python etc.
Module No 2. Analytical Techniques/Tools for computational techniques
· Analytical Instruments and Equipment basic principles, theory, operation and data collection and analysis, Programming Languages, Density Functional Theory (DFT) Packages
Module No 3. Introduction to research
· Project Proposal, Literature review, definition of the research problem
Part-2: 25 Credits (5 Months) Extendable for additional 4 Months for 1 Year duration
