Halfway through the time we had for the project, everyone working on the RC car realized that they weren't going to be ale to finish if they worked on their own. To get a good grade on the project everyone started working together and divided the work in hopes of getting it done, here's what each person including me did to work on the RC car
Servo code and electronics
Combining both motor codes to work on one joystick
Figured out the web server issue
Took apart small DC motors
Built Lego car body
Made original steering module in Fusion360
Helped with Lego car body
Made Lego steering module
Soldered Protoboard
Helped with wiring
Helped with creating and accessing the web server
Helped with figuring out camera code
Connected the servo to the Lego steering module
Replaced the small dc motor with the larger one
Helped connect the motor to the ESP through the motor shield
Connected the ESPs to the Lippo batteries
In this project I learned many things in many different areas. I learned how program a ESP chip, how to control motors from it and also how to control multiple motors. In addition I learned how a web server works, a bit on how to make a control system on one and how to use a video display on another.
The process to complete this project was not a fun one. I spent multiple hours everyday for the last 2 weeks of the project getting everything to work. Sometimes things would work one day and then not work at all the next. It was constant battle of miscommunication with each other and the code that always needed changing.
If I were to countiue on this project I would start to scale the project to be smaller. This would inclued going back to the 1.5 gram linear servo for the steering and the dc motor in the 9g gram servo being remvoed to act as the accelerator. I would go further with the project by giving it lights in the back that would light up when going in reverse. I would fins a way to make the scaled down model removable from the main shell of the car so that it could be swapped out for diffrent types of cars. If the car was a 1/16th scale instead of the 1/64th scale of the hotwheel I would also add suspension which I saw when doing reaserch on the car.
