Description of Project
This unit and assignment's purpose was to teach us how a Gameboy and the other electrical features of a Gameboy work. We learned how to correctly identify electric components and their purpose in the machine. We correctly soldered the parts to the PCB and placed the parts in the correct spots on the PCB. We trouble shooted any problems or complications with the workings of the design. And finally, we learned the history of the Gameboy and how important it was to todays progress in the field of electricity.
Materials before being used. When I was checking to make sure I had every component.
When I was checking to make sure I had every electrical component.
I installed the on/off switch, the speaker, and other small components. On the back I need to clip the extra wires hanging off of the board but I did not for some time.
I installed each of the five buttons into the Gameboy. They control how I move in the game and an action button to do things with in the game.
The usb adapter was installed along with the scoreboard. Using the provided wire
The chip reader than will hold the code for the Gameboy was installed. I failed to insert it the first time and had to get a new one.
The game screens where you will be able to see the game itself being played were installed.
The final design of all the electrical components being installed.
The final design of the entire game boy being assembled including the case and the battery pack on the back.
Overall Problems
I only had two problems throughout this unit. Number one I broke my first chip reader when trying to insert all of the wires into the PCB, one of the wires broke and I had to open a new packet to get a new chip reader. Number two the battery pack would not fit into its designated spot in the case, to solve this problem I just taped the battery pack to the back of the case.
