OVERVIEW

Two rising junior/senior girls and two rising junior/senior boys are invited to apply for a 4 to 6-week exchange with St. Anne’s Diocesan School (boarding school for girls) or Hilton College (boarding school for boys) in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. The male students will be housed in a dormitory on campus, while the females will live with a host family off campus. Students will attend classes and participate in many academic and cultural activities. Weekend excursions are usually arranged by the host families, often traveling to Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town. Selected students are asked to host the South African students visiting Charlotte Latin School during the first semester, but it is not a requirement to participate in this exchange.

If interested in applying, please reach out directly to Kelly Willis, Director of Global Studies, at kelly.willis@charlottelatin.org or 704-841-7461.

"One of the most interesting things was going to school in an environment where World, South African, and American History were not taught through an American perspective. Through this, I was able to drastically expand my worldview and see many historical events and relevant social issues in a new way, ultimately allowing me to be more open minded and receptive to different opinions.
