Let's Write some Blackout Poetry - this is a kind of FOUND poetry. We're using recycled book pages, magazine or newspapers for this activity. You'll need a black marker and other colors if you like - the most important item is a black marker.
1. Start with a book page - look for one with some cool words you'd like to circle and use to make your poetry.
2. Circle the words you think are important and powerful.Â
Leave out articles like a, an and the.
3. Add your illustration and start covering the words you are not using with black marker.
4. All Done. Read it aloud and see how it sounds -- and add your own words if you want.
