WHO CAN SIGN UP?
The tournament is open to ANY Buist Academy PYP or MYP student and their guardians. Siblings who do not attend BA and would like to participate, must be 18 years or older.
HOW WILL THE BRACKETS BE MADE?
There will be TWO separate brackets for this event-- one PYP, one MYP. This will ensure fair match ups throughout the tournament.
HOW MANY PEOPLE PER TEAM?
We are requesting no more than 7 people per team. This will allow 2 subs per team if needed.
CAN I HAVE MULTIPLE GRADE LEVELS ON MY STUDENT TEAM?
YES! However, please be sure all players fall under ONE category-- PYP or MYP (Ex: Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8)
WHERE WILL THE GAMES BE PLAYED?
PYP Tournament games will be played on the playground court; MYP games will be played in the gym.
Is this a free event?
NO! EACH team is required to pay a $10 fee. Proceeds will benefit Charleston Hope. However, attending as a spectator is FREE!
CAN I BE ON MULTIPLE TEAMS?
NO! This is a fast paced tournament that will not allow the switching of teams.
Game Time: 10 minutes (5 minute halves; 2 minute halftime)
Game Clock: The game clock will consistently run. If overtime is necessary, the game clock will stop for fouls.
Subs: Substitutions can be made as a team scores. Players must call out the name of the teammate they are replacing. No more than 5 people per team on the court at a time.
Scoring: For every basket scored is worth 1 point. If you shoot a 3-pointer you will be awarded 2 points.
Overtime: If the game results in a tie, there will be a 1 minute overtime. Double OT will result in each team sending players to the free throw line.
Fouls: Foul shots will be awarded to your team when the opposing team fouls the shooter. ONE free throw will be given per foul. If your foul is flagrant enough, you will be ejected from the tournament.
Removal from Tournament: Flagrant fouls, disrespect to an official or any other patron attending the event will be handled with one warning. Failure to comply with tournament rules will result in removal from the event.
