My name is Krissy Hoort and I am so excited to join Buist Academy as your school nurse. I am a Furman University graduate and began my nursing career sixteen years ago after graduating from MUSC. I have worked in surgical oncology at MUSC, Student Health Services at College of Charleston, and as a camp nurse. My husband and I have 14-year-old boy/girl twins and an eight-year-old son, and I have also enjoyed substituting as a nurse at their school over the years.

Month of Neu House!
Month of Neu House!
The teachers and House Leaders of Neuschwanstein have asked to correlate the Month of October with their house, since they are our pink colored house. Over the course of the month, they will be coordinating Breast Cancer Awareness activities.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Neu House
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Neu House would like to take time to honor the survivors and remember those we have lost to breast cancer.
We invite our families to participate by completing one of the linked forms:
In Honor Of – to recognize a loved one who has survived or is currently battling breast cancer
In Memory Of – to remember and celebrate the life of someone who has passed away from breast cancer
Please include your loved one’s name and, if you wish, a photo, and return the form to your child’s homeroom teacher.
Together, we can show our support, raise awareness, and celebrate the strength of those impacted by breast cancer.

Our next challenge is up on our Math in Action Site. We also have printed challenges in the front office. Please see the picture below of students who went to the treasure box for completing the first challenge!!
Math Challenge is free and no sign-up is necessary.
All students 3rd to Grade 6th are invited to participate.
There will be 15 challenges during the 2025-2026 school year beginning on September 12, 2025.
Students who submit 12 challenges or more will be recognized at the end of the school year.

Buist Academy Spirit Day at The Citadel vs. Valdosta State
Please join us for a day of fun and football at The Citadel vs. Valdosta State game on October 11th! We are offered discounted tickets as a group. Tickets cost 26.50 with fees included. The purchase deadline is October 4th at 11:59 PM. We will be in the bleachers and any child above the age of 3 needs a ticket. Wear a Buist shirt and join the fun!

Students earned a hat day last Friday! The more we raise, the bigger and brighter the Glow Party celebration becomes for our students.

Bus Riders
FirstView registration for the 25-26 school year will be available starting July 21, 2025. This year's code is: N6G3F
New Users- Download the FirstView App-Download the FirstView® Parent App Go to firstviewapp.com or find FirstView® in the App Store or Google Play. Follow the instructions to download the app to your smartphone.
Current Users-FirstView has been updated. You will need to add your students and routes that you were previously tracking.

Car Riders
Buist has a number dismissal system. Please make sure your child's number is visible through your driver's side windshield. Your student will receive a new number each year. Do not use your student's old number.
The car rider line will start to move faster after the first week or two of school. All students should be picked up by 3:20 pm.
