Buist Academy Foundation (Parent-School Organization/Rent the Royal Rock Information) https://www.buistacademyfoundation.org/the-royal-rock
The Buist Academy Royal Fun Run is the school’s largest fundraiser each year, money from which helps support additional art, STEM, and literacy programs; the musical; house celebrations; Knights of the Month awards; 8th-grade graduation; clubs and club days; stipends for faculty who work with after school activities; IB education, professional development for teachers; and more.
The Buist Academy Foundation is seeking sponsorship for the 2023 Royal Fun Run to be held on October 20, 2023, at Tiedemann Park. Sponsors can be a business, an individual, a family, or even anonymous.
For a $250 donation, your name will be listed on the back of the t-shirts that will be worn by students and teachers that day (and many spirit days to follow). We welcome larger donations as well. We need approximately 15 donors at the $250 level to fund the t-shirts for the run. Every donation helps. Donations are due by September 27, 2023.
Please use the Google form link to indicate your willingness to sponsor the Fun Run and for more information about how to donate: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSditktCT6deP-iNxkysQLbXmzsgrBjYlFcfiEIAmI683_4Ytg/viewform?usp=sf_link.
Sponsorship donations do not contribute toward your student's totals within the school fundraising competition.
Thank you for considering a donation to support the Fall 2023 Buist Academy Royal Fun Run.
Does your child enjoy building things with LEGOS? How about coding or robotics? Some friendly competition?
Dr. Howe and Mrs. Biggs are excited to announce an opportunity for grades 5-8. Students interested in participating in the Lego Robotics League can fill out the online application, which was emailed directly to students last week.
Meetings will take place after school and on early release days. Spots are limited, so get your applications in by Friday, September 29th to be considered for this year’s team!
Hispanic Heritage Month began on Friday, September 15, it is also Independence Day in many Latin American countries. Buist families are encouraged to celebrate together using the “Hispanic Family Choice Board”.
Each day outlines a different way to experience Hispanic culture. Invite your family to experience a variety of these activities with you. Be prepared to share your experience with your homeroom class. You can share your experience through a story, a picture, a recipe, a menu, or other documentation.
Students who complete 5 activities in the month are eligible for a prize!
In the community:
3rd-5th grade World Cultures classes are learning all about Argentina. Today they celebrated with Tango lessons. Check out Buist Academy Knights on FaceBook for more pictures.
Nothing says SCHOOL SPIRIT like sports! Please complete this Buist Sports Interest Survey.
The goal of this survey is to get feedback in three areas:
(1) Parents who are interested in coaching sports
(2) Parents who are interested in supporting sports
(3) General idea of the number of children who are interested in playing sports
The majority of sports at Buist are managed & coached by volunteers/parents. They are not run by Buist or CCSD and coaches work with outside leagues. There will have to be enough kids and coaches to have a Buist team for any sports listed below. This form is being provided to get a sense of interest for what's available.
Indicating interest does not commit you to being on a team or being a coach, but we sure would love to have many of you participate!
Please click here for more sports information.
Contact Mr. Keith Ackler at Keith_Ackler@charleston.k12.sc.us to communicate sports announcement information such as tryouts, practice reminders, and game results. Mr. Ackler will also assist with scheduling gym times for volleyball and basketball practices.
