Instructional Fees
How are school fees used?
School fees go toward workbooks, digital subscriptions, printing, classroom picture books/novels, agendas, special area and core classroom supplies, instructional resources, etc.
My child is temporary remote. Why should I pay?
We have and will continue to provide access to supplies and instructional materials for temporary remote students. Several temporary remote students have already received: crayons, markers, novels, workbooks, pipettes, access to digital subscriptions, and science lab materials.
Fees are $45. Your support is greatly appreciated.
School Improvement Council Nominations
The Buist Academy School Improvement Council has one parent vacancy. The SIC is an advisory council to the principal that is focused on school improvement. It is made up of parent, teacher, and community representatives.
A representative of the SIC will contact all individuals whose names are submitted into nomination prior to the election to confirm acceptance of the nomination.
Nominees will be invited to submit a brief statement about themselves and why they want to serve on the SIC. All statements received will be included in the election ballot. This will give voters a chance to get to know each of the candidates.
Nominations will be accepted until October 12, 2020.
A Magical Year at Buist Academy!
Congratulations!
"A Party in the U.S.A."
Last week, Buist Academy Spanish teacher, Mrs. Araya Vargas became a United States Citizen! We are very happy for her and proud of this amazing accomplishment. It's a party at Buist Academy!
1st-3rd Grade Walkers
We ask for these students to be supervised when walking off campus after school. They can be escorted by a parent, child care provider, or older sibling. They must be picked up from the front of the school at the doors near the flag pole. This school procedure is in place to ensure the safety of our youngest students.
Please do not instruct students to break the rules and bypass this procedure. While students are in our care, they are our responsibility. We have locations and procedures for all of our students after school. We appreciate your support and help with keeping students accounted for and safe at all times.
Nurse's Corner
Hand washing is an effective way to stay healthy. Soap and water are best but hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol will do the trick too. Just scrub for at least 20 seconds, that's the time it takes to sing the Happy Birthday song twice.
Return to school fever policy:
A student needs to be fever free (temperature of less than 100 degrees F) for 24 hours, without taking fever reducing medication, before returning to school.
Call or email Nurse Polly if you have any questions.
