Attendance Reminders
It is extremely important for students to attend school on a regular basis. As a South Carolina public school, Buist Academy is required to follow SC laws and CCSD Board policies regarding attendance.
We are happy to work with all families through a variety of unique circumstances. However, we must maintain compliance with the South Carolina Department of Education.
Attendance information can be found in the CCSD Code of Conduct, CCSD Restart Implementation Guide, and the Buist Academy Handbook.
Quick Reminders:
All absences require a written explanation or email from the parent/guardian within three (3) school days of return from the absence.
A written explanation of absences must include the student’s name, parent/guardian’s full name, parent/guardian’s signature, date(s) of absence(s), and documentation of the reason for absence(s).
Truant: A child, at least 6 but not yet 17 years old, who has accumulated three consecutive unlawful absences or a total of five unlawful absences.
COVID-19 Accommodations:
The district will make appropriate accommodations for students who may be required to quarantine or self-isolate as a result of COVID-19 by offering remote instruction.
As long as officially quarantined students are able to participate and complete assignments, they will be counted as present. We are working on correcting any inaccurate attendance reported on recent report cards.
In-Person students who are sick (non-COVID related) or self-isolating for safety reasons will be granted an excused absence if they are able to join the class remotely or complete work packets.
Please click the links below for more CCSD attendance information.
