The CHAMP Awards was created by Greg Blatt, Founder and Executive Director of Coaches 4 Character. This is the first year that Charleston County School District will be awarding the CHAMP Award to 8th and 12th grade students. This award is designed to honor true “unsung heroes” who all too often are not recognized for their accomplishments. The selection process, managed by Charleston County school counselors, focuses on identifying and selecting students who often go unnoticed for one reason or another, but have accomplished great things in their home, community, church or school.

COVID Updates

Buist Academy and Charleston County School District are committed to prioritizing the health and safety of students and employees. Over the past two weeks, we have seen an increase in positive COVID cases at Buist Academy. We will monitor very closely the COVID rates in order to identify any trends or issues that would require a change in our protocols and daily practices.

Positive case information can be found on the CCSD COVID-19 Dashboard. The information included on the Dashboard applies to anyone associated with the school to include students, faculty, and staff (administration, instructional, custodial, food/nutrition).

We ask that each family consider the health and safety of our school community by taking health and safety precautions seriously at home and in the community.

For more information, please click the link below. Visit the CCSD COVID-19 website and dashboard frequently for updates.

COVID Tips and Reminders

We need your help and your diligence in keeping your child home if necessary. Thank you, in advance for your help - we will get through this together. Our goal is to create a safe learning environment for students on campus.

  • If your child is sick or symptomatic of any illness, please do not send your student to school.

  • If your student has tested positive, or been exposed to a COVID positive individual, please notify Buist immediately and do not send your child to school.

  • If any symptomatic member of your household has had COVID in the past two weeks or is suspected of having COVID, please keep your child home and call or email the school for guidance.

  • If your child is awaiting COVID test results, please do not send them to school.

Your diligence is appreciated in keeping our entire school community safe and healthy for a wonderful year.

Mask Requirement

Due to the latest DHEC COVID-19 rating for Charleston County, all students, staff, and visitors must wear face coverings in all of our schools and buildings beginning Tuesday, January 4th through March 14, 2022. The Board’s goal is to keep students and staff as safe as possible while there is a significant increase in COVID-19 positive cases in the community.
