December 4th - 8th, 2023 is Computer Science Education Week and all Buist Computer Science Students will be participating in the Hour of Code during their Computer Class time.
The Hour of Code is celebrating its 10th Anniversary. It started in 2013 and reached 20 million students. Today Code.org’s courses have been translated into 30 languages and taught in 180 different countries. This year the Hour of Code will reach 1 billion students!
This global initiative exposes students to coding and the field of Computer Science. It unites educators and members of the community by having them share with students how important these skills will be to all learners in the future.
Parents - Ask your students to show you what they did during their Hour of Code. The website we use most often is www.code.org/learn

Buist Academy Monthly Parenting/Family Engagement:
How to Take the Stress Out of Family Gatherings/Cómo eliminar el estrés de las reuniones familiares
We understand that some parents did not receive the series of CCSD Alert text messages sent during last week's emergency incident.
The most common reason for not receiving a text message is that when you completed your student’s registration, you updated your phone number as home or daytime instead of mobile with the “SMS Text Message” option.
If you did not receive the series of text messages and wish to receive text messages from CCSD and Buist, please complete this form. Only one form is needed per family. We will be working to update these accounts one account at a time and ask for your patience during this process.
Another reason for not receiving a message is that you may have blocked or unsubscribed from CCSD/Buist communications. The above solution will not remedy blocked messages. We will email blocked accounts to see if you want to change that preference. The CCSD Communications Department will update blocked accounts.
We are unable to update information for siblings attending other schools. Multiple reminders will be sent for the 24-25 registration period.
Thank you for your understanding as we work together to ensure your communication needs are met. We appreciate your support.
