September 19- School Uniform Picture Day
August is National Civility Month. This month emphasizes the importance of treating others with kindness, empathy, and respect. It's an opportunity to reflect on how our actions affect those around us and find ways to improve ourselves in this regard. The month aims to create a more harmonious society by reminding people to be kind, empathetic, and open-minded. That sounds like a very IB way to treat others!

Hi Buist Parents,
I’m Dr. Tracie Howe and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Instructional Coach and International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator at Buist. I am a National Board Certified Teacher and have taught at Buist for the past 14 years and in Charleston County for over 20 years. Throughout my time at Buist, I have served as the Science Department Chair, the Career and Technology Education (CTE) Department Chair, a District Science Kit Trainer, and District Professional Development presenter. I have organized and coached students in competitions and clubs including SeaPerch, Lego Robotics, Trebuchet, You Be The Chemist, Lowcountry Science Fair, and sewing. Before designing and implementing Buist’s STEM program in 2017, I was the 7th/8th Science teacher.
My new role is to support our educators in delivering high-quality instruction and to guide the continued success of our IB program, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for the challenges of the future. I look forward to continuing working with you and the Buist community to make this school year a successful and enriching experience for your children.
The 2024 LEGO Robotics League is back for year two! We are looking for students in grades 5-8 to join the Buist Bots. Engage in research, coding, and engineering. We will be building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of the Submerged Challenge this season. Practices will be after school.
Students must see Mrs. Biggs or Dr. Howe to receive an application.
Our amazing downtown location allows us to explore Charleston. We would love permission to take students on a variety of walking field trips throughout the school year.
Please click the link below to learn more about walking field trips and to sign the permission slip.
Buist Bus Routes and Important Information
