Principal's Message

Buist Academy Families,

It is my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome as we begin the 2021-2022 school year. We are anticipating an exciting and productive year. To those who are new to Buist Academy, we hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved as a valued part of our school community. Opportunities for parent involvement will be provided through the Buist Foundation, School Improvement Council, school-based programs, and your child’s teacher.

Last year was a challenge as we navigated through a new normal for our school community. Although there were challenges, we worked together for our scholars. I foresee a positive, productive, and successful year as we continue to stay sharp and stick together! We will work diligently to fulfill our mission to challenge students in a rigorous environment, which emphasizes achievement, encourages academic excellence, and promotes respect for all individuals.

The school year will be busy, exciting, and very rewarding for each student. We want you to join us in making this the very best experience for your child. It is a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, educators, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social-emotional growth.

Thank you in advance for your support in making this another excellent school year.

Sincerely,

Shawntay White

Principal

CCSD Safe Return

CCSD Families,

In preparation for the opening of the new school year on Wednesday, August 18, the district's latest version of the Safe Return plan is available on the district website. Highlights of the plan, including the COVID-19 safety measures in place for this school year, are linked here.

One item of importance - state law prevents our school district from requiring face masks for students and employees. However, we do strongly encourage wearing face masks in schools to help us prevent the spread of the new COVID variant.

Please refer to the Safe Return Plan on a regular basis as conditions change which could impact our safety protocols.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we navigate this challenging time together...and we look forward to seeing your students on the first day of school on Wednesday, August 18.
