CCSD Vaccinations
Buist Academy's eLearning Day to allow for our staff to receive the COVID-19 vaccination is not scheduled for this week. Once a date is confirmed, we will let you know as soon as possible. We understand that you may have to adjust your schedules to accommodate this effort, but this major step will help make our schools much safer during this pandemic.
Thank you for everything you have done throughout this year to support our school.
Lost and Found
Please encourage your child to look for missing items that may be located in the lost and found. You are welcome to browse the lost and found on Monday, March 15 from 9:00-1:00 at the Dogwood Alley entrance.
March is National Reading Month
March 2 was National Read Across America Day. We celebrated by having a school-wide Drop Everything and Read session. (D.E.A.R.) Click here to view: Read Across America
On March 5 we held Book Character Day. Click here to view: Book Character Day 2021
Attendance Reminders
It is extremely important for students to attend school on a regular basis. As a South Carolina public school, Buist Academy is required to follow SC laws and CCSD Board policies regarding attendance.
We are happy to work with all families through a variety of unique circumstances. However, we must maintain compliance with the South Carolina Department of Education.
Attendance information can be found in the CCSD Code of Conduct, CCSD Restart Implementation Guide, and the Buist Academy Handbook.
Quick Reminders:
All absences require a written explanation or email from the parent/guardian within three (3) school days of return from the absence.
A written explanation of absences must include the student’s name, parent/guardian’s full name, parent/guardian’s signature, date(s) of absence(s), and documentation of the reason for absence(s).
Truant: A child, at least 6 but not yet 17 years old, who has accumulated three consecutive unlawful absences or a total of five unlawful absences.
COVID-19 Accommodations:
The district will make appropriate accommodations for students who may be required to quarantine or self-isolate as a result of COVID-19 by offering remote instruction.
As long as officially quarantined students are able to participate and complete assignments, they will be counted as present. We are working on correcting any inaccurate attendance reported on recent report cards.
In-Person students who are sick (non-COVID related) or self-isolating for safety reasons will be granted an excused absence if they are able to join the class remotely or complete work packets.
Please click the links below for more CCSD attendance information.
ONLY 75 COPIES LEFT!
Make sure your student isn't left yearbook-less! We have so many interested students, the pre-order deadline has been extended!
We are encouraging pre-orders because there will be no extra yearbooks for purchase after April 2, 2021.
Yearbooks are $35 and payment plans are available! Please email Ms. Frazier, if you have any questions.

Donate Your Used Instruments
Inspired by the book Hey, Charleston! The True Story of the Jenkins Orphanage Band, Buist is holding an instrument drive during the first week of March.
Please bring in any unused and/or unwanted musical instruments to be donated to music programs in need. Please do not bring in instruments that are beyond or too expensive to repair.
Dr. Braunreuther and Mr. Baker will be collecting the instruments.
