National Reading Month is celebrated each March. The increase in reading during this month has significant benefits that will continue to pay off in the future. Reading is one of the best habits to develop; it strengthens the mental muscles, helps to improve comprehension and analytical abilities, increases imagination, and boosts memory.

National Reading Month is an important opportunity to encourage reading every day and to foster a love of books in children across the country.

CCSD Read Across America Week

Welcome to CCSD's Read Across America Week 2025! This is a district-wide celebration of literacy for all students centered around this year's theme, "Reading is for Everyone."

Students will join the fun with core content and SEL connections, activities, virtual author visits, a special Beanstack reading challenge, and more!

Spring and 8th Grade Pictures

Spring Picture Day at Buist Academy is coming soon!

This is a NO UNIFORM DAY FOR ALL STUDENTS. However, 3rd-7th-grade students must purchase an AdvancePay credit to be photographed!

All 8th-grade students will take portraits on this day. This picture will be used for the 8th-grade slideshow.

Please check your emails from Tumbleston to order in advance.

All parents and guardians of students in grades K-12 are invited to complete the 2025 South Carolina Parent and Guardian School Climate Survey. The purpose of this survey administration is to best address the needs of your child and family and foster a more successful and positive learning environment. The survey data collected contributes to reporting in the annual state report card for each school.

This survey closes on Friday, April 11, 2025.

On February 25, an email was sent to parents and guardians from ccsdschools@charleston.k12.sc.us that includes instructions on how to access the survey in Parent Portal (https://ccsdschools.powerschool.com/public) through your internet browser or the PowerSchool Mobile App.

You can also visit the district website at https://www.ccsdschools.com/parentportal to learn about Parent Portal and view resources related to this system.

If you have any questions about accessing Parent Portal, please contact your child’s school.
