Where are the magnet bus locations and what to expect as a rider?

• There are 5 JICHS Magnet Bus Stop Locations for choice-students that reside OUTSIDE of Zone 3 are located at the following locations:

Johns Island Locations

304 - Food Lion - corner of Maybank HWY and River Road 

521 - Lowe's (KJ's) -corner of Maybank HWY and Bohicket Road

           West Ashley Locations

548 - West Ashley (SeaCoast Church)

548 - West Ashley (Harris Teeter)

651 - West Ashely (PawMed))

651 - West Ashely (Walmart)

• It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to get the student to the location at the designated route on time for pick up each morning.  

  • Be at the stop location no later than 10-12 minutes BEFORE the pick up time! (Sometimes the bus comes early!)

  • Students DO NOT go into the local stores and try to make a purchase before the bus arrives.  The bus driver is not obligated to wait on you!

• Route Pick up/Drop off times are not announced until a few day before school starts. 

  • The routes during the first few weeks are chaotic and not timely. Please be patient as the Charleston traffic is hectic for everyone re-establishing school routines.

• Local traffic patterns can and will cause delays that affect the bus routes and pick up times.  

• Mechanical and driver issues (substitute driver) can cause delays. 

• The FirstStudent Bus App: Yes, it is often not accurate due to GPS issues or a substitute bus is in route that students and parents (as well as our Office) cannot track!

Alerts are displayed on the app and we encourage you to download and place on the student's and parent phones to monitor alerts. Codes for the app are located in this guide under FirstStudent.
