CCSD's Reading Challenge for 26-27 has a goal of 45 million minutes. MMA completed 90,000 minutes of reading this week. Top Readers: Joaquin Munoz, Darrell Simmons, Kingston Wilson, Mr. Rodriquez, and our 7th grade scholars.
Medication for MMA Cadets
Updated medication order forms are now past DUE for new and returning students and leaders. For medication orders to be valid, both practitioner signature and date and parent’s signature and date is required in ink.
The correct CCSD forms must be on file that matches the medication to be given.

a. 7th GRADE Cadets T-dap requirements are due. Please notify the nurese of upcoming appointments Cadets must have an emergency card on file to participate in school-sponsored field trips.
b. If your child has allergies starting daily allergy medication under consultation of your child's pediatrician will be beneficial. Whether allergies or a virus causing post-nasal drip, encourage your child to gargle with salt water 2-4 times a day, wash hands often and drink more water!
c. GNATS (No-see-ums) and Mosquitos: Remember Skin So Soft, No Natz, Babyganics natural Insect Repellent or some type of repellent before your child comes to school.
d. Medications: Students are not allowed to carry over the counter or prescription medications on their person at school except for specific life saving medications with a doctor’s order and parent written permission on file.
CCSD Policy Reminders
1. Parents, if your child is vomiting, they are to remain home until 24 hours without vomiting has passed.
2. Students with a fever of 100.0 or higher may not return to school until 24 hours without fever has passed and they are not taking fever-reducing medication. Please submit a written parent note or medical note to our office staff to explain absence(s).
3. Do not allow or encourage your students to carry over the counter medications to school. Only life saving medications with a doctor's order on file are permitted.

Parents Remember to bring your state ID or passport inside to complete the late sign-in or early sign-out process in the main office.
Tardiness Concerns: Unexcused tardiness places families at risk for Attendance Interventions, and may lead to a recommendation for your cadet’s return to their homeschool. (CCSD provided transportation delays are excused.)

Parents, student fees are past due. Cash Payments can be made between 8 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.. Continue making payments via “RevTrak” - Under the "Lost materials, late payments tab" and/or by money order. Be sure to include your cadet scholar's name in the comments.
Reminder: PT Uniform Cost is $65.00. You must purchase the entire new sweatsuit.
All cadet account statements have been mailed out. Please continue making payments via RevTrak or in person.

Student drivers: You will need to register your vehicle via a Parking pass applications with Ms. Kennedy. Student vehicles parked at Chicora without a pass will be towed. Please be mindful that your vehicle is subject to CCSD Policy JIH - Student interrogations, searches, and arrests.

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT REMINDERS
• Correct forms are required for Early Departures and Parent Absent Notes to allow for planned, prepared pickups and for absences to be considered for excusal. Cadets will not be dismissed between 3:15 and 3:45 p.m. as we prepare for our end of day procedures..
• Forms previously sent home were NOT returned by the state-approved deadline, resulting in absences remaining UNEXCUSED.
• Absence Documentation: Medical excuses and Parent Absent Note forms MUST be submitted within 72 HOURS of the absence.Emails and Phone calls are NOT legal excuses for absences or early pickup.
• Families are allotted TEN (10) days of lawful ParentAbsent Note Forms per school calendar year. Many families are nearing or have exceeded this limit. Once the maximum is reached, additional absences may result in a Truancy Intervention Plan and assigned Seat Time Recovery hours.
• Families aware of prolonged or upcoming absences should notify the school AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, as accommodations may be available to prevent truancy concerns and academic impact.

Chairman’s Corner
Hello, Eagle family, and welcome to a new school year! It’s GAME TIME!
Let’s start with an explanation of who/what we are. The School Improvement Council, better known as the SIC, is a group of parents, teachers, students, administrators, and community members who work together to support school improvement. We review school data, identify needs, provide input on the School Improvement Plan, connect the school with helpful resources and community partnerships, and monitor progress toward our goals. Simply put, we help make sure the voices of our families, students, and community are included in conversations about improving MMA.
Based on the school’s Community Report, some of the areas the SIC may be able to help address this year include:

Academic and Test-Readiness Support
Career and Internship Opportunities
School Climate
We do not want to have these conversations without you, so please join us at an upcoming SIC meeting to share your ideas and help us decide where our efforts can make the greatest difference. We meet on the third Thursday of every month in room 116 at 6pm. Interpreters will be available, and a Zoom link will be sent out for anyone who cannot attend in person.
Your voice matters, and we would love to have you at the table!
