Started in 2014, Camp LEAD encourages elementary and middle school students, from 2nd to 7th grade, to exercise their leadership and team-building skills through a weeklong competition. Each team has outstanding high school students as its leaders with a diverse group of campers of different ages and abilities.
Each year campers and staff select their focus for the week, such as recycling, mental health awareness, or bullying. Each team then creates a public service campaign around the issue which they present on Friday to community members who serve as judges and to their families and each other.
The teams each compete in a series of both mental and physical challenges, such as obstacle courses, digital breakout games and more. The challenges center around the week's theme.
