Don't forget to use Power School to keep up with your child’s grades. Please make sure that you ask your child about grades before emailing the teachers. Student login is now found on Clever. They no longer need a Powerschool login if they go through clever.

Cario will operate cell phone free from 8:00am - 3:30pm. Cell phones decrease engagement and are a distraction to learning. Cell phones will be stored in students lockers and may be accessed at the end of the school day. If you need to get a message to your child that can not wait, email POD teachers or the office.

We will offer extra help during POD time 8:00 - 8:25 and Academic Enrichment time 11:00 am - 11:25 am. Academic Enrichment/Recess time is also a great time to make up missing assignments including quizzes and tests.

Reminder there are NO dismissals after 3 pm. Please send in a written note if you will be picking your child up early from school. This note needs to be given to the homeroom teacher.

Please remember students have up to 5 days to make up work (including assessments) with an excused absence. If a student misses the day of the quiz/test, it is expected that he/she take the test upon returning to school. Below are the hours for students to make up work in ANY subject. Please notify the subject area teacher for whom you need to make-up work for, in advance.

Assignments and assessments not made up during the 5 day period will become a zero. For extended absences, students should be in contact with the teacher and should not wait until after their 5 make-up days.

We expect our students to check their grades daily using PowerSchool. If students do not know their logon, they can see a POD teacher during Academic Enrichment. We highly recommend they download the PowerSchool app on their phone so they can receive notices when grades are inputted.
Please know that it is our policy to record missing work (including from an absence) in the grade book as a zero or one. This is intended to be a service to the students. We have found that when grades are not recorded as a zero or one, the student is not aware of missing work and when the zero/one is entered later it is too late for the students to make it up. This means when students are absent for any reason, the average in the class may drop temporarily. We try to code entries so that it can be seen if a student's work is late, if they were absent, if the work was not turned in, etc.

Please do not be alarmed if you receive a very formal looking email that states Review 360: Incident Report. This is part of our Charleston County Progressive Discipline Plan. If the top portion states “teacher managed” under Incident Type, that is just an informative email that is automatically generated for you to let you know your child served a lunch detention, or other consequence for minor class offenses. When it states “office referral”, administration has been involved at that point.
