January 5th, 2026: I make an announcement at Morning Meetings about my senior project, giving students a rough overview and encouraging them to sign-up.
January 9th: The sign-up period has concluded. 23 students sign-up in total. This number was crucial, as it would inform how many roles there should be.
January 22nd: I completed the main list of roles/characters.
January 27th: I created a Google forms survey that will gauge the experience and preferences (including comfort level) of each delegate. I got permission from John Schatz for the Middle Schoolers to temporarily have access to Google Forms on Friday January 30th.
January 30th: I sent out the Google Forms survey.
February 4th: All survey responses are in!
February 5th: I delegated the appropriate role to each student, and published them!
March 3rd: I provided the students with a "crisis handbook" that has a LOT of super important information, especially regarding how to properly research.
March 12th: After a month of hard work, I finally finished and then published the background guide! This will provide basic information to each student about the conflict and their character, giving them a good place to jump off with their research.
March 19th: I have to change the logistics of it all. I initially planned for the committee to run over one weekend: April 4th and 5th. However, my senior project advisor and I realized that the second day of the committee (the 5th) was Easter, and that could be problematic. We looked at many other possible dates to no avail, and finally decided on having the entire committee on just April 4th, so we'll have one long day instead of two short ones.
March 30th: For the final week of research, I provided my students with materials that will help them finish preparing for the committee and help them write their introductory speech.
April 2nd: I remind delegates that they'll need to debate and defend their position within the committee, so they should come prepared for that. Additionally, I specify that the committee will be set in Tangier, Morocco, which is an international city and part of the Tangier International Zone. It was already specified that the committee would be set on the day December 31st, 1936.
April 4th: The committee!!! :D
