Everything you need to know to put on a virtual event!
This campaign, if planned well, can create engagement on social media with lots of individuals beyond your immediate audience of your institution.
It can also build hype alongside raising money, if everyone is talking about it then people will want to get involved and do their bit. Donating just £1/$1 online means that everyone can get involved, young & old, near & far with very little limitations.

Everything you need to know to prepare an amazing event!
There are two main components to a successful chain reaction campaign.
1) Decide your donation ask
2) The nomination activity
For how much people should donate when they have been nominated should be a relatively small amount, and one that is simple. This should encourage everyone to get involved. E.g. £1 or $1
The nomination activity is what will help propel this campaign and the chain reaction. You need to decide what participants should do, it can be simply taking part and nominating more people. However, to make it engaging you may want to choose something that is linked to the theme or the cause, e.g. sharing a childhood story, sharing a quote/ayat/hadith on the importance of charity, favourite charity week memory. You also need to decide the suggested ask of how many people to nominate too, a TOP TIP is to have this between 3-5 people. Anything above that usually results in the nomination fizzling out.
Lastly you want to set up a fundraising page for that is to be shared with this campaign. The great thing here is, this will show how the collective donations are adding up!
The actual chain reaction campaign can take place any time around Charity Week, with the fundraising page running til the banking deadline.
To identify the best time, consider what other events you are running at the same time, and when would be a quieter time to run this campaign.
Be as creative as possible, consider making videos, cool posters and social media graphics.
Once you have this in place, have a team of people ready to launch the chain reaction. Ask them all to post on a certain day and time, to get a social media blast! Once they have started the chain, the nominations should help fuel the campaign to continue.
A TOP TIP is to identify the most popular people within your institution to start the campaign, as well as influencers and groups that you can contact and are willing to back your campaign.
Share. Share. Share. Utilise all your Social Media platforms to get the word out. Share why you're doing this campaign, how to get involved, what the impact could be.
You've done the planning, now is the time to ensure everything runs smoothly!
Keep an eye on the fundraising page, and the number of people that are posting and sharing.
Ways to keep up the momentum are by sharing posts individuals are making on your institution's social media pages, and also commenting and liking on these posts too.
If you see things are quieting down, encourage individuals to take part and restart the chain on their social media accounts.
An event does't finish when your guests leave, wrap up the experience with excellence!
This is a great opportunity to reflect on the experience. Thank everyone who supported, and share the results of what you achieved!
