2025-26 RICAS Scores
We have a lot to celebrate and some work to do! Celebrations include the growth our current fourth graders made in mathematics, that 10-14% of our current fourth grade students exceeded expectations in reading and math, and 75-80% of our students receiving special education services nearly met the expectations in ELA in both grades 3 and 4.
Your fourth grade child will bring home their data report on October 23.
See a summary of our RICAS results here.
School Improvement Team
Our next meeting is scheduled for October 19th at 5:30 pm in the library. All are welcome to attend. We will be discussing our recent RICAS results and monitoring the progress of our School Improvement Plan. The agenda and meeting minutes are always posted on our website.
Composting and Recycling
All students in grades K-4 have been retrained to compost and recycle in our cafeteria. Ask them about it and see if they can show you how to do it at home.
Unity Day
On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Chariho Regional Public Schools will recognize Unity Day, a nationwide event dedicated to bullying prevention and promoting kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange to show their commitment to creating safe and welcoming learning environments for everyone. Together, we can raise awareness, support those affected by bullying, and strengthen our school communities through unity and respect.
🧡 Wear Orange. Show Unity. Inspire Kindness
Open House
It was SO nice to see so many families this week at our Open Houses. We are great partners in your child's education and it is because of this relationship that your child SHINES!
DANGER!!
In the morning some cars are not stopping at the yellow sign which limits visability for families pulling out of the lot. PLEASE stop at the sign to keep everyone safe.
School Photos
Many thanks to our parent (and grandparent) volunteers. See below for information about ordering school photos. Our make-up day is November 4, 2026.
Learning Walks
Did you know our school has been conducting learning walks for years? This year the whole district is doing it and each month there is an instructional focus. Teachers join administrators on the learning walk team and share non-classroom specific celebrations and areas for growth after each walk.
Teacher Assistants
We have a number of vacant teacher assistant positions. Please contact us or our human resources department if you are interested in becoming a teacher assistant or a teacher assistant substitute.
Coventry is offering the required teacher assistant/paraprofessionals pre-employment course. See below) We are still in need of some teacher assistants and also substitute teacher assistants. Substitute teacher assistants must also have this course in order to work more than 20 days. Anyone with an Associate's degree or higher does not need to take the Para Pathways tests; they only need the course.
Wellness Studio
We had to turn our old wellness studio into a classroom so now we have a smaller one. We are always looking for parent or community volunteers to come to school to teach classrooms pilates, yoga, dance or fitness as a special event. Reach out to me if you are interested!
Sincerely,
Sharon Martin (Principal) and Ashley Gwiazdzinski (Assistant Principal)
Chariho Culinary Students Food Truck Visit for Grades K-4 October 21, 2026
School Lunch
MySchoolBucks is up and running again so parents/guardians can add funds to their child's lunch account. We have heard that it is working for some and not for others, but we encourage you to try if they use the program to add lunch funds. If you experience difficulty with adding funds please call the MySchoolBucks support line at 855-832-5226 or you can also chat with tech support when logged into the program. Attached is a flyer from MySchoolBucks about the program and the link for any new family that wants to set it up.
