Chariho High School/CTC Robotics

Team #10773

Who we are:

Chariho is a regional school district located in southern Rhode Island shared by three adjacent towns; Charlestown, Richmond, and Hopkinton. The name Chariho is a portmanteau derived by taking the first few letters from each town name and combining them together. The Chariho campus located in the Richmond village of Wood River Junction houses the Middle and High Schools, as well as the Chariho Career And Technical Center and Chariho Alternative Learning Academy. The school hosts students from surrounding districts who are interested in the education Chariho has to offer. Sending districts include: Block Island, Charlestown, Exeter, Hopkinton, Jamestown, Narragansett, North Kingstown, Richmond, South Kingstown, Westerly and West Greenwich. Chariho is the largest district in the state of Rhode Island by area.

Chariho HS Robotics is a Team of Students that competes annually in the FIRST TECH CHALLENGE https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/ftc Any student grade 9-12 may participate. All skill levels are welcomed and needed, technical or non-technical. Student team members are encouraged to bring any skills they already have, like coding, electronics, metalworking, graphic design, web creation, public speaking, videography, and more.

Robotics Team Mission :

To build an diverse inclusive team that encourages curiosity in STEM related fields by allowing students to explore their unique interests. Students will contribute to a robotics team that requires the skills and talents of many individuals to be competitively successful and in return, students will develop skills like grit, determination, communication and teamwork which are so vital to success in the workplaces of today and tomorrow.

Team Outreach:

Our goal is to increase our team presence in the surrounding communities through the creation of relationships with local companies and organizations. It is our hope that these relationships will provide students with opportunities to learn more about the communities as a whole and allow them to locally explore school-to-career pathways. These companies and organizations will reap the benefits of educated and motivated students who are eager to develop and practice their skills when they are employed close to home.

Support the Team:

FIRST provides a new challenge to teams every year. Robotics suppliers are always developing new products. Competing in a nationwide robotics challenge can get VERY EXPENSIVE.
