ABOUT

TAMU SEDS educates, curates, and advocates for space exploration in our region. Our events and projects inspire students of all backgrounds to get involved in the space industry, whether they are aspiring astronauts, entrepreneurs, or policy makers.

SPACE ADVOCACY and OUTREACH

Outreach and Advocacy is SEDS’s number one mission. We bring distinguished faculty and industry speakers to discuss anything from the Curiosity Rover to the mysterious black holes. Plus, our students give back by participating in video chats and visits with primary schools. In Spring 2018, we hosted Amateur Radio on the ISS (ARISS) with the local Ham Radio club and participating schools. Leading up to the event, we provided educational material and participated in video chats with engineering students. In the end, we held a live-streamed event with the ISS while K12 students asked questions to an astronaut!

On the historic Space X Falcon Heavy Launch day, members gathered at the Memorial Student Center to watch in awe. Our excitement gathered the attention of typical students, who had no idea a car was being launched into space! We want to share the same hope and excitement for space exploration as we do.

HUMAN SPACEFLIGHT EDUCATION

SEDS is committed to spearheading human spaceflight education and exposure to university students. Through Aggie Astronaut Corps (AAC), we offering free, student-led courses relevant to spaceflight training and research. Our goal is to create opportunities for suborbital microgravity research and analog missions.

CONFERENCES and NETWORKING

To highlight the achievements of our chapter and connect with the national organization, SEDS brings members to SpaceVision, the largest student-run space conference in the country. Previous attendees have presented their projects, networked with CEOs, and voted in the annual board of directors election. We also attend various other conferences such as the International Space Development Conference.

INTERDISCIPLINARY CONNECTIONS

The scope of spaceflight science reaches outside of engineering to touch every major at Texas A&M. We aim to educate the general student population that regardless of their specific interest, they have a place in the field. From food science to Political science, the market is opening to everyone, he hope to provide a place for anyone to come together and be excited about our future among the stars.

NATIONAL CHAPTER

SEDS is an international student organization, with thousands of students across 12 different countries! Here in the United States, SEDS USA is the national chapter, consisting of about 100 individual chapters (we're just one of them!) across the country. Check out their website for more info.
