- The sections of the lab notebook (Title, Aim...) are clearly labeled for each experiment and in the correct order.
- Data collected in a logical and organized fashion.
- Tables and figures descriptions are correctly formatted
- The sections of the lab notebook are connected and linked to each other.
Content - 10 points
- Procedure is clear, concise and comprehensive.
- The Title and Aim are descriptive of the experiment completed.
- Observations are complete and fully descriptive (if applicable)
- Data is recorded neatly and in the correct format (i.e. in a table or as a single data point)
- Data includes the correct units and labels.
- All necessary preparatory calculations are included with the correct significant figures.
Results / Analysis - 20 points
- Methods of how the data was analyzed are clearly presented and described in appropriate detail.
- Graphs and figures are appropriate to the data analyzed. Graphs include slope and other necessary information, if applicable to the data set.
- Calculations completed as part of the data analysis are included with the correct significant figures.
- Appropriate quantitative error analysis is completed and explained, if applicable.
- Sources of experimental error are explored and described when evaluating the data set.
Conclusion - 10 points
- Results are interpreted and compared to literature data (if applicable).
- Conclusion is clearly written with correct grammar.
