Every life has moments that are worth celebrating . Mile stones such as important birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, buying farms , a new puppy and going on honeymoon don't happen everyday and its wonderful to mark these moments in the form of something decorative and practical that can be enjoyed for years to come. I hand-paint ceramics to celebrate these moments. At the moment I paint on a few forms: side plates, dinner plates, under-plates, serving platters and large charger dishes. I receive information from clients in the form of photographs, descriptions, web links and a description of what the client would like to see appear on their ceramic piece. I do a quick little sketch up for feed-back, and once I get the go-ahead, I begin painting the piece.
I always suggest choosing a hero to go in the centre. This is often a landscape, around which I create a border which complements the central image with objects and narratives relating to the celebration event/client. I love painting foliage and flowers, but if you look at the examples below, you can see how many different ways we can tell your story.
These pieces are hand-made and hand-painted and sometimes small defects occur. For example: when the finished painted piece is glazed, it is held between someone's fingers as its dipped into the glaze solution. As the cobalt has no adhesive agent, the smallest gesture can create a disturbance on the painted detail. It is the nature of something hand-made that these little moments occur. I have made peace with this and while every precaution is taken, there are sometimes when these moments happen. I am writing this because by signing up for one of my pieces, you accept that these things happen and you don't mind them. Obviously cracks and chips etc are unacceptable and should there be any major flaws - or spelling mistakes, etc I will be repaint the piece at no extra expense.
Timeline:
Please let me know your timeline and I will look at my calendar and use my discretion to establish whether I think I can make it in that time. These items do take a long time to create and so the more lead time you can give me, the better.
While some clients like to use their Celebrationware every day, others prefer to hang them up as art works - out of the reach of disaster. Kindly let us know if you would like us to include a bespoke, brass-wire hanging mechanism with your piece. Please see a detail of this below:
