Chancellor’s values working with its pupils' parents and carers and places great importance on the home-school partnership and the support that comes from working closely together. We will always seek to make an initial response to any query or request within 72 hours (during term time).
Staff are expected to be focused on lesson planning and delivery as well as curriculum development work. They are not expected to be able to access or respond to messages and requests in the evenings, at weekends or during school holidays unless there it is an emergency, such as a child protection issue or a bereavement.
To make an appointment parents/carers should email in to admin@chancellors.herts.sch.uk, who will then forward your message to the correct individual or team. Please remember that some staff work part-time and, therefore, we may not always be able to respond within 72 hours. Parents cannot expect to arrive at school and demand to see any staff without an appointment or at a moment’s notice. Instead, it is expected that parents make an appointment to see an appropriate member of staff.
All enquiries should be sent to admin@chancellors.herts.sch.uk, please include in the main body of your email who you would like the email to go to. E.g: FAO Ms Smith regarding Maths trip (Year 9). Admin will then forward your email on to the relevant member of staff. Please note all emails are treated with strictest confidentiality. Please do not email any staff members directly as your email may be blocked and not received - all enquiries should come through the admin@chancellors.herts.sch.uk email inbox.
Queries or concerns related to a class or subject, please include subject teacher's name and a brief description of your enquiry
Personal or social matters, please include the name of your child’s form tutor and a brief description of your concern
Child protection issues, will be sent on to the Designated Safeguarding Lead
In all correspondence between staff and parents we ask both parties to be courteous at all times. Our staff are professionals and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, even if there is disagreement over the best way forward.
A full list of all staff can be found on our website: Chancellor’s School/About Us/Our Team

Students are not allowed to bring any valuable items into the school. These include AirPods, headphones, digital cameras, smart watches and any other personal entertainment equipment.
We enforce strict rules around mobile phones, smartphones are banned in school. Any student found to be using a mobile phone or other digital equipment during the school day will have it confiscated and a sanction will be applied in accordance with our 'Behaviour’ Policy, which can be accessed on the school website.
The success of this policy not only depends on our students acting sensibly but also on the support of our parents. All parents are expected to support the school over this important matter.
Please note that the use of smart watches, AirPods and headphones will be covered by the same procedures set out above.
Students needing to contact parents in an emergency should report to Medical or Reception where they are able to use the school phone or our Reception team will call home for them. Students who contact their parents directly from their own mobile phone without permission will be sanctioned accordingly.
Please note that mobile phones and all other electrical/digital equipment that are not handed into Reception remain the sole responsibility of the student. The School is not and will not be responsible or liable for any damage, loss or theft to the equipment. The school cannot be held responsible for any personal property lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed.
A lost property box can be found at the bottom of E block.
Lost items are usually given to Reception where they are checked for name labels and if they can be identified they will be returned to the student, if there is no way to identify who it belongs to, it will be put into the lost property box.
A variety of school trips will be offered to your child whilst they are a student at Chancellor’s School. The cost of most school trips will be chargeable as an extra. The permission of parents or carers will be sought.
