PARIS-DAUPHINE University - Place Maréchal Lattre de Tassigny 75775 Paris - ROOM RAYMOND ARON
The rapid economic development and increasing energy needs of developing and emerging countries imply a crucial need to better assess the conditions and feasibility of those countries in the context of climate change.
Economic development implies increased energy and other goods consumption, which requires to anticipate the paths that will ensure sustainability and low climate impacts in the long run. Moreover local development cannot be thought without considering land-use implications and the risk of resource depletion.
On the international agenda, increased participation of developing countries is essential, in order to foster the compatibility between legitimate development goals and necessary environmental targets. Further, the joint objective of adaptation and mitigation is decisive when considering the developing world.
This annual edition of the Annual Conference of the Climate Economics Chair will shed lights on these issues, by bringing together researchers in economics, finance and econometrics.
