The International Potato Center (CIP), in coordination with Crops Research institute (CRI) is organizing a practical course on small RNA sequencing and assembly for virus detection, which will take place from 18-22 of June 2018 at CRI, Virology and Molecular Biology Laboratories in Kumasi, Ghana.
The course will consist of wet labs, including library preparation of small RNAs for high throughput sequencing and subsequent bio-bioinformatics analysis of sequences for virus detection. Potential participants are required to have a solid knowledge and understanding of molecular biology, molecular techniques including sequencing and significant experience working in molecular laboratories.
There are no course fees, and the training is sponsored by the CGIAR Genebank platform, the CGIAR consortium research program on Roots, Tubers and Bananas, the Sweetpotato Action for food Security Health in Africa (SASHA), and the Next-Generation Phytosanitation project. Participants will have to cover their own travel and lodging cost for participation. For inquiries please contact Dr. Allen Oppong alnopp@yahoo.co.uk and Dr. Jan Kreuze (J.KREUZE@CGIAR.ORG).
