The work you produce for this project will be assessed against:
AS91066 1.33 Use rendering techniques to communicate the form of design ideas, 3 Credits, Internal Assessment Schedule
The direction of light on the object
The tonal change - defines the shape and form
Highlighted edges (and sometimes surfaces)
Thick line for background outline
The shadow so the object looks grounded
The material qualities and texture of the object
It is important for step 5 of any rendering to add shadows (or surface reflection if your ground is reflective) to your drawing to help 'ground' your object rather than having it floating. The shadow can be Indicative (smudged shadow in the right direction) or Projected (measured for the specific object).
Follow the instructions on these videos to learn how to do Projected Shadows
Below are some step by step exercises to help you practice your rendering techniques.
Phone rendering
Follow the video playlist to complete the phone rendering. You will need to print the underlay below or you can sketch the phone first.
