All CGCC geology courses are integrated as in GLG101IN The lab and lecture must be taken together.

CGCC Geoscience offers the 4-credit integrated (IN) classes listed below that combine lecture and lab., creating a better learning environment. (Geography offers some separate lecture / lab courses.) Environmental Geology & Disasters - GLG110IN

Description - Acquaints students with the use and importance of geological studies as they apply to the interactions between people and the earth. Includes geological processes and hazards such as earthquakes, volcanoes, floods and landslides. Examines environmental impact and use of mineral and energy resources.

Prerequisites - None

Notes - Students may receive credit for only one of the following: GLG110 or GLG110IN.

Historical Geology - GLG102IN

Description - The origin and history of the Earth, its dynamic geographic and climatic changes. Evolution and sequence of life recorded in the fossil record; tectonic evolution of major continents through time.

Prerequisites - None

Notes - Enrollment in both a GLG102IN lecture section and a GLG102IN laboratory section is required. Students may receive credit for only one of the following: GLG102 and GLG104 or GLG102IN.

Field Geology of the Southwest - GLG230AA

Description - Field trips to selected areas in the Southwest, such as Arizona, Utah, California, and Sonora to observe and interpret various geological features and phenomena.

Prerequisites - None, though GLG101IN or GLG102IN are suggested.

Notes - GLG230AA may be repeated for a total of four (4) credit hours.

Introduction to Planetary Science - GLG105

Description - A survey of solar system objects and their geologic evolution, surfaces, interiors, and atmospheres, and the methods used to study them; weekly laboratory for data analysis and experiments; possible weekend field trip.

Introduction to Physical Geography - GPH 113

Description - Earth`s physical processes and impacts on human environments via the atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere. Topics and practical experiences include severe weather, climate change, biomes and ecosystems, landform processes; mountain building and erosion by rivers, glaciers, waves and wind, topographic maps.
