The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has set out rules and guidelines for the satisfactory completion of Stage 5 schooling. Four important aspects are:
Satisfactory achievement in all subjects
Satisfactory application to studies, particularly completing all assessable tasks
Satisfactory attendance at school
Satisfactory course completion requirement.
Students are required to complete all class work, homework and assignment work for each course to the best of their abilities.
When this is not taking place, parents will be notified to let them know of the unsatisfactory progress.
At the heart of the HSC reforms is the establishment of a minimum standard in literacy and numeracy for the award of the HSC.
From 2018, an online literacy and numeracy test has been made available for students to demonstrate they have met the standard. The video below gives detail about the minimum standard for literacy and numeracy.
