Objective: To create the opportunity for students to explore the benefits of mindfulness practice and improve the health, wellness, and quality of life.
Over the past couple months we've all been impacted from the CoVid-19 crisis. It is nearly impossible to go through daily activities without facing a mix bag of emotions. During these times we may find ourselves pacing and anxious, waiting to return to our normalcy. However, this could be a wonderful time to turn your focus inward and spend some quality time getting to know yourself in the present moment. I am very excited to begin the journey of mindfulness in the classroom. Throughout my teaching career, I've been driven to explore different strategies and styles of teaching and learning. However, I have found that even the most innovative teaching practices struggle to reach our students. Our current culture leaves us facing daily stressors, distractions and pressures elevating mental health concerns to an all time high. To be most effective in helping our kids prepare for life, we must take time to bring greater awareness and education towards our health and wellness, both physically and mentally. It is my hope, when implementing mindfulness into the classroom, that students will become better equipped to handle life situations, inside and outside of the classroom.
