The Meet Me Where I Am (MMWIA) campaign of the Arizona Department of Health Services, Division of Behavioral Health Services was designed to help increase the quantity and quality of Support and Rehabilitation Services in the behavioral health system across Arizona.
Goals of Meet Me Where I Am
Meet Me Where I Am is an ongoing, multi-year effort to expand the amount and quality of Support and Rehabilitation Services available to Child and Family Teams for the express purpose of helping children live successfully in their own communities. The focus is not on increasing the amount of billed Support and Rehabilitation Services codes alone. The quality of the services provided and outcomes achieved are at the heart of the campaign.
Initial Year One Goals:
The first year of the campaign focused on the successful development and use of Support and Rehabilitation Services in a few targeted demonstration sites within each region of the state.
Each Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) had a Design Team. The Design Teams identify the demonstration sites within each RBHA, based upon feedback from the community and existing data sources, and determine how to utilize the available funding in a way that will successfully accomplish the Year One goals. RBHA Design Teams composition must consist of at least 25% parents/family/youth involved with the behavioral health system. A family member must serve as co-chair for the Design Team.
The funds for Year One of Meet Me Where I Am were spent as designated by the RBHA Design Teams within the demonstration sites for the purpose of developing and/or expanding Support and Rehabilitation Service Providers that possess the following characteristics:
Have a strong desire to provide Support and Rehabilitation Services to children and families with the most complex and challenging needs in an effort to help them live successfully in the community;
Are prepared to operate with sufficient skill to help children with the most complex needs live in the community successfully;
Operate as Generalist Support Providers, meaning they are prepared to configure their program operations to the needs of the Child and Family Team without arbitrary limits on frequency, duration, type of service, age, gender, population or other factors associated with the delivery of Support and Rehabilitation Services;
Utilize a Positive Behavior Support approach to Support and Rehabilitation Service delivery.
