Distinguished Alumni

Each year, the Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation & Alumni Association recognizes noteworthy individuals through the Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Awards. These special recognitions began in 1985 and, since that time, over 140 individuals have been celebrated for their career accomplishments, community impact, and influence. 

As part of the CFSFAA annual Recognition Program held each May, award recipients describe the lasting influence of their time in the Cuyahoga Falls City School District. Student Scholarship and Teacher Grant recipients, who are also in a attendance that evening, are able to hear, first hand, the impact Cuyahoga Falls City Schools had on their life’s work. 

Nominations for Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Awards may be submitted by classmates, friends, and professional colleagues. A Distinguished Alumni/Distinguished Service Award committee is appointed annually by the CFSFAA Board of Trustees. This committee reviews nominations and selects recipients for the annual May recognition. 

Distinguished Alumni nominees must meet the following three criteria: 

• Were graduates of Cuyahoga Falls High School and had been regularly enrolled in the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools (High School activities play no part in the selection) 

• Have been out of high school for a minimum of ten years (nominee need not be living at the present time)

• Are identified as “distinguished” in one or more of the following three areas: 

  • Professional Recognition: Significant contributions or notable accomplishments in one’s career; leadership roles, or innovations in their field; 

  • Community Impact: Involvement in philanthropic efforts with significant contributions to society, a demonstrated commitment to service through an interest in improving the lives of others through volunteer efforts/community service; 

  • Influence: Recognitions, honors, and awards received by professional organizations or industry leaders; publications or presentations that contribute to their field. 

• Distinguished Service nominees must meet the following criteria: 

  • Significant contributions of time, talent, and treasure have been given to the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools and/or the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools Foundation & Alumni Association.
